CLANNAD

Tokyo (Mizuho, Hamura)

In 2004, a Visual Novel called Clannad was released. A couple of years later, the KEY studio took on the task of telling this touching story in anime as well. Released in 2007, Clannad and especially its second season, Clannad: After Story, have generally been indelibly engraved in the consciousness and emotions of each of its viewers since their release. This trip to the hometown of Tomoya and Nagisa is a real experience for anyone touched by the story. It pays to stare at the sky, according to the legend of the city, there may sometimes be a small sparkle of light there…

The excursion takes you all day from evening to evening with the transitions, and there is quite a lot of walking.

Directions

The target is Hamura and Hakonegasaki stations. It is worth departing from Tokyo on the Chuo line, which departs from Shinjuku. The first changeover is at Tachikawa station, moving to the Ome line to get to Hamura station. If you want to go by train to Hakonegasak, the change takes place at Haijima station, on the Hachiko line.

All lines used are JR lines.

Hakonegasaki

There are really a lot of familiar views around Hakonega, and on the maps below I have marked some of the most significant locations I have found to make the trip easier. On this trip, you should definitely bring a free tourist map of the area from JR Station to make your way easier!

There is a small park near the station with a certain pond and fountain - and a short distance east of the parks is the uphill that gives the whole story a spark. Right next door is the aisle of the final scene of “Kyou-Arc” as a hint. There is also a temple on the map that appears in the series.

Hamura

The position of Hamura and its surroundings are also very familiar from Clannad. Hamura's position is also used by Youhe's little sister Mei when she visits her big brother and her friends. If you have less time, you may want to focus more on exploring the surroundings of Hakonegas and hiking in Hamura just in the vicinity of the station.

The distance between Hamura and Hakonegasak is less than three kilometers, and I highly recommend walking through the “hometown of Tomoya and Nagisa” in the Tokyo suburbs.

There is a lot to see and do, don't forget the soundtrack!

The trip requires a lot of time and walking, but it also gives a lot - the area is full of places, you may have to walk past a part and only later when you look at the pictures will you realize that a moment…! This trip emphasizes that the camera's memory card is not worth saving and, as has been said, it is also a good idea to take more or less of the screenshots in the series.

Full Metal Panic for fans to know !! Coming from Tokyo, this tour will also bypass the venues underlying the FMP events! An example is the park along the Chuo line - get off the train at Kichijoji station and just south is Inokashira Park. The park has an immediately recognizable amphitheater and a path around the pond - and of course the pond itself where Sousuke “goes swimming” after annoying Chidor once again…
