Doujin

Doujinshis are publications in the Otaku subculture made by either individual enthusiasts or groups (called the Circle). These are produced at the artists' own expense in a limited batch.

Most commonly, they can be obtained for local con-like events from the artist’s or Circle’s sales desk. Comiket is probably the most famous event of its kind where fans queue up for hours to be among the first to have their favorite artist at the table.

Doujin is not always manga or illustration ..!

Doujin can also be, for example:

  • A recording on a CD whose cover is also usually loaded
  • Dak cover
  • Keychain, sticker, postcard, note paper,
  • An album made by Cossa
  • The booklet of the follow - up story - this is already known in the West by fanfiction
  • Wall Scroll

Only the imagination is the limit, so all that matters is that Doujin is not exclusively a literary output - yet it is still, on some level, always a physical or digital object that a fan can collect in his collection.

Doujins can be divided into different categories that follow the same established lines in most Japanese movements.
When sold in Japan, doujins are first divided into two, male and female doujins. These are further subdivided into two based on age limit - K18 and allowed for all ages. These divisions are followed by subcategories according to doujin, Circle, artist, genre, subject, and so on.

I was interested, but where to go looking for my favorite series Doujin ??

The events mentioned above are, of course, one place, but Japan has an unfortunate long journey from here in the North - in practice, it is necessary to have recourse to Japanese buying and selling shops that also supply outside Japan. Fortunately, many of these can be easily found with the help of Google, and deliveries from Japan are basically quite reliable. However, noteworthy are the cost of freight and customs formalities for imports from outside the EU, which often complicate the journey slightly and significantly increase costs.

At this point Finanime can help, we may already be looking for a sale in our online store! And if you're looking for something specific that we don't have, just feel free to contact us and we start looking for the Doujin you want, the artist you are looking for through our contacts may be found on the corner of the shelf of a local brick shop, for example! Freight costs also stay under control when we combine individual orders with other imports.
